Cake-in-a-mug
A few years ago I made a culinary discovery. I was making a dessert of some sort and misread the recipe, adding several times as much cocoa as I should have done. Left with a mixture of self-raising flour, cocoa, and icing sugar, which was now no use to me, I thought I'd add some sugar and milk and see if it would make a chocolatey drink. I mixed the ingredients in a mug and microwaved it. When I opened the microwave, I had a cake!
I now make a cake-in-a-mug intentionally, as I did this afternoon for a snack. The recipe, should wish to risk it, is as follows:
- Mix 2tbsp self-raising flour, 2tbsp cocoa, 2tbsp of icing sugar in a mug. (I use a normal eating spoon, which is I think officially a dessert spoon, not a tablespoon.)
- Add enough milk to make a paste and stir.
- Microwave on full power for about 1 minute, depending on the power of your microwave.
- Enjoy!
